Come to Crazy Horse Buttress just outside of Chiang Mai for our introduction to Top Rope Climbing and Rappelling course. This course is meant to give you a fun day out on the rock where you will be introduced to the basics of rock climbing and rappelling.
The morning portion of the course will be spent climbing and learning techniques that parallel the Introduction to Top Rope Climbing course. After a break for lunch, you will take a long hike up to the top of the climbing area and learn the basics of setting up a rappel system. The skills you learn in the morning climbing session will allow you to experience the rappelling activity safely. You will finish the day with an exhilarating 50 meter rappel into the mouth of a monstrous cave.
This is an ideal course for 1st timers who just want a taste of some of the fun rock climbing has to offer…
Located just 50 km east of Chiang Mai city and in cool clean mountain air some 1,000 meters above sea level. Carefully protected for the past 200 years by the Khon Muang (chaa mieng farmers) of Ban Mae Lai, it is widely acclaimed to be the best example of such forest in the North.
All the nature trails programmers on this model ecotourism development are led by knowledgeable English speaking guides and their local counterparts. All programs incorporate a biodiversity monitoring component to which visitors are invited to contribute.

Just an hour and a half from Chiang Mai, the Mae Taeng river is without a doubt one of the most exciting thing you can do in Thailand. The Mae Taeng is a steep and continuous mountain stream; a unique combination of exceptionally fun and challenging rapids without it ever getting past the point of recreation.

Choose from one of the bike trips below, followed by transportation to your accommodation in Mae Gompong, the home of The Flight of the Gibbon™, in the late afternoon. Friendly villagers will greet you and show you to the homestay where you will enjoy a delicious evening meal. The evening is yours to either explore the village that time has stood still in, or perhaps have your hosts organise a cultural show of music and dance for a small extra cost.
