"You get treated very well from the time that they pick you up at the hotel all the way to having lunch after the tour."

Chiang Mai is located in the beautiful mountainous region of northern Thailand. Because of its geographic location the weather here is often significantly cooler than the rest of the country and temperatures drop as you venture further into the mountains.
In the hot season (February through April) Chiang Mai is just as hot as the rest of Thailand, despite its elevation. The city is well known among locals and tourists for the celebration of Songkran, or the water festival. The event takes place at the peak of the hot season, which makes this yearly ritual of splashing water on every person you see quite enjoyable. At first you might be surprised by the tradition but you’ll start to appreciate the free cool down after you’ve been baking in the city all day.
If you’re visiting Chiang Mai in the cool season (December through February) a jacket is strongly recommended. If you’re thinking about going trekking you might consider bringing several layers of cold weather clothes.
Chiang Mai has its rainy season from May through October which is quite wet, and flooding often occurs in the more northern towns. Showers are short just like in Bangkok but have been known to last a few hours.
