Option #1: The Eagles Route

Astonishingly Beautiful Biking

This is a great intro ride to off road mountain biking. The descent through Doi Suthep National Park presents us with great views of the Mae Ping Valley below and makes this one of the most scenic and popular rides.

Trip Description: Downhill, up country rides

National forest and plantation access dirt road with ruts, rock gardens, mud and sand traps, some steep down hills at times but very manageable.

Our 4 wheel drive transportation takes us to the top of Doi Pui mountain 1600m( 5400 feet) above the Palace and Doi Suthep Temple. After viewing Doi Pui Village below and some stretching, we prepare our Cycles and get ready to ride down to our favorite coffee plantation.

This first part of the trip helps us to evaluate your riding ability and we talk about techniques to make your downhill cycling even more enjoyable. Everyone is encouraged to practice the newly learned techniques. The trail leads straight down the mountain with at times steep downhill riding, Absolute no lengthy up hills disturb the rhythm and spirit of the forest, At our many rest points we enjoy the beautiful views of Chiang Mai below.

The challenging terrain of the route capture our full attention. The wild growth of the forest hugs the path. Half way down, we leave the dirt path and head straight through the forest on single track over roots and rocks , A well deserved break at a secret waterfall, and then single track all the way to the lake for lunch. This ride, although not easy, is a great introduction to off road downhill mountain biking. At the Lake a our favorite Lunch spot prepares the well deserved meal for us.

After Lunch we head back to Chiang Mai the lazy way, in the truck and full of great memories.

Option #2: The Highlander’s Route

Ride starts at 1600m above Chiang Mai

Doi Suthep Park at its finest, starting at the summit, off road changes to single track leading us deep into a highland jungle gorge, a physical challenging climb out and a lengthy downhill rewards us with great views.

Trip Description: Cross Country Ride with downhill

National forest and plantation access dirt road with ruts, rock gardens, mud and sand traps, some steep down hills, turning into single track completely unused by vehicular traffic, long steep uphill, great if you are in top shape. Very rewarding.

Our 4 wheel drive transportation takes us to the top of Doi Pui mountain ( 5300 feet) above the Palace and Doi Suthep Temple. After viewing Doi Pui Village below and some stretching we prepare our Cycles and get ready to ride down to our favorite coffee plantation . This first part of the trip helps us to evaluate your riding ability and we talk about techniques to make your downhill cycling even more enjoyable. Everyone is encouraged to practice the newly learned techniques.

Further downhill we turn west at the forest intersection where we continue gradually downhill, enjoying higher speeds and control. After passing a high country Royal Planting Project, we enter the great divide, a barely used and unmaintained path. We practice our art of Mountain Biking, moving in and out of ruts, over rocks and roots, and quickly arrive in the deep jungle gully between the two mountains. Now at 3200 feet elevation, we notice the tropical forest emerging from the pine woods, with huge banana leaves and plenty of bamboo filtering the light.

Once at the bottom of the gully we begin a long and rewarding uphill back to 4100 feet, some ride, some walk, concentrating and preserving energy on the way to our summit.

A 200 year old bamboo grove greets us at the top, where a lengthy and well deserved break is taken.

Continuing along the high road with fantastic views of the valley below we ride a gradual, long downhill. Warmed up we play in and out of ruts and holes, sand traps and rocks. The challenging terrain forces us to maintain full concentration on riding and moves us into “the zone” of the sport. The hill tribe village at the end of the forest trail brings us back to civilization.

Once in the Mae Sa Valley we enjoy a beautiful winding paved road downhill all the way to our favorite eating spot near Wat Ampawan.

Technically challenging at higher speeds and easy at slower speeds, but definitely an achievement.

Option #3: The Old Smuggler’s Route

Biking through Thailand's Bamboo Forests

Traversing and climbing along the remote mountain tops of the National Park, we enjoy these scenic rides with a challenging downhill section into the Mae Ping and Sa Moeng Valley.

Trip Description: Cross Country Ride with downhill

National forest and plantation access dirt road with ruts, rock gardens, mud and sand traps, long steep down hills, rarely used by small farm vehicles, short steep uphills, great if you are in shape. Very rewarding.

Our 4 wheel drive transportation takes us to the top of Doi Pui mountain ( 5400 feet) above the Palace and Doi Suthep Temple. After viewing Doi Pui Village below and some stretching, we prepare our Cycles and get ready to ride down to our favorite coffee plantation . This first part of the trip helps us to evaluate your riding ability and we talk about techniques to make your downhill cycling even more enjoyable. Everyone is encouraged to practice the newly learned techniques.

After the coffee break we keep riding down hill until we reach our route west into the next valley. Fantastic forest riding with great views from open plantations, are followed by a break at a refreshing mountain creek.

With only short steep up hills we wind our way across the valley, past small farm houses while witnessing the local hill tribes in there natural environment. Then we ride further down hill between plantations and forest with beautiful pine trees changing to eucalyptus growth on the way down to the Mae Rim Valley floor. The rarely used forest road presents the rider with plenty of challenges. This trip ends at beautiful Wat Ampawan, where our driver is waiting for us. A late lunch at a secluded Orchid Farm with a small lake, gives us a chance to reflect on significant events during this eventful day.

This forest /farm road is hardly traveled and is perfect for mountain biking, allowing speed, but challenging your riding abilities. This is very secluded riding and you will feel deep appreciation for the local ecology.

“Giving Back” – The Project

Our Goal is to plant 1,000,000 trees over the next 20 years. Initiated in 2008, we have planted 7,200 flourishing plants in the rainforest so far.

Our" Village Green" program supports local villages by keeping roads clean, preserving. Thai culture and rainforest tree planting. We also support a very successful wildlife re-population program involving many native species.

We are partnering with the Thai Government so we can do the ultimate good... preserving Thailand’s precious eco-system.

We educate everyone about the rain forest eco-system. More than 1000 children per year, (mostly orphans and under privileged children) fly each year free of charge. Another 2000 children fly for a modest fee. Education and wildlife awareness are our major goals.

Chiang Mai Tours Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does it take?

It depends on the tour, but plan on about 7 hours door to door. This includes transportation, eating, getting geared up, and the ziplines. You are up in the treetops for several hours. We will get you back to the city in time to have a great dinner. If you are on a tight schedule, let us know.

  • Do you have availability on the dates I am coming?

Probably. As long as you are booking a few days in advance, we can usually accommodate you. We are open every day of the year. We ask that you book at least 1 day in advance.

  • Will you pick me up and drop me off at my hotel in Chiang Mai?

Yes! Just let us know where you are staying. If you don't know when you book, tell us you don't know and we will follow up with you as your tour date approaches.

  • What if I am outside of the Chiang Mai area?

There is an extra cost of 300 Baht/person to pick up and return if you are staying outside the Chiang Mai area. This includes areas such as Hang Dong and Mae Rim. Please contact us for with any questions.

  • What's included in the price of the Chiang Mai Tour?

For Chiang Mai: We pick you up from your hotel with aircon VIP transport and take you to Thailand’s 3rd highest peak. There you will spend 3 hours, rigged securely, high up in the rainforest canopy, flying from tree platform to tree platform on ziplines. Afterwards, we provide a riverside Northern Thai set lunch and a spectacular waterfall trek. After your trek, you are welcome to stay in the picturesque village of Mae Kompong where you can see traditional village craftsmen at work together with the famous Mae Kompong Waterfall. There is also a restaurant and coffee shop in the village where you can get refreshment for your ride back to your hotel.

  • I need to change my date! Is that ok?

Yes of course you can but please kindly advise us several days in advance.

  • I'm not sure about some of the details. Should I still use the booking form?

Don't worry, we're flexible. Just put in your best guesses about number of people and dates. We will contact you soon and at that time we can discuss any questions.

  • Can children go?

Absolutely. There is not a minimum age but we do have a minimum height of 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches) tall to fit in the harness properly. Young children are often taken in tandem with a guide.

  • Is there a discount for kids?

There are no discounts for children as although we love to have them - they often require extra care from our staff. But this is definitely a family-friendly adventure!

  • How fit or athletic do we need to be to do the zipline tour?

It's exciting, but not physically demanding. Please see our video to get a sense of what is required.

  • What is the maximum weight?

The maximum weight we allow is 130 kg (286 lbs). However, our zip lines and rigging systems are engineered to hold much more than this and greatly exceed international standards.

  • What if we want to combine multi-day tours so I can bike, climb and raft. But I only want to do the zipliine once. Is this possible?

Yes it is, you can book other tour with us separately. To clarify, we can accommodate the one day tour for Mountain Biking, White Water Rafting and Rock Climbing.

  • We only have a half day. Is it still possible to do the tour?

Sometimes we can make it work. We can shorten the program by skipping the meal and trek to the waterfall. But it cannot be less than 5 hours (2 hours transfer + 3 hours in the tree tops) For example, if the customer has a flight at 2pm, we can accommodate them by sending a private taxi to pick them up for the early promotion. They will zip line and go back right away. If needed, we could also drop off at the airport. For the private transfer we need to extra charge an extra 300 Baht/person.

  • How safe is it?

Very safe. You are led by experienced guides who ensure you are properly connected to the safety equipment at all times. We are the only canopy adventure in Thailand designed, built and overseen by international experts from New Zealand with more than 20 years of experience. We spend considerable time and money for ongoing guide safety training.

  • Can we drive ourselves to the tour site?

We ask that you NOT drive to our tour site at Mae Kompong. It is a small mountain village with narrow roads and very little parking. We take great measures in minimizing our impact there. In addition, the village heads have specifically requested guests to not drive themselves. We ask that you get picked up with our comfortable, air-con van.
